Amadeus (1984) Biography / Drama / Music
This is a beautifully made movie. I wasn't expecting a movie like this to be funny and powerful at the same time. F.Murray Abraham is excellent as Antonio Salieri. You can truly understand how jealous he feels towards Mozart. Basically, Salieri is the top composer in Vienna, but when Mozart comes along, he feels angry that Mozart has a much better gift for music than he. Salieri is then determined to destroy Mozart. The music used for the movie also plays a big part. There is also a lot to do with god as well. Salieri is angry at god for blessing Mozart(who is very big-headed and annoying) with such devine gifts that he so desperately wants for himself. Even though Salieri may sound like a bad person, you actually feel sorry for him. When he first meets Mozart, he tries his best to welcome him by writing a piece of music for him, but Mozart, not exactly meaning to, sort of critices Salieri's music for being repetitive, so makes his own changes to it.
So really this is a very powerful film with great performances from F. Murray Abraham and Tom hulas, who plays Mozart. You must see this.
127 Hours (2010) Biography / Drama / Adventure
First of all let me tell you that watching the trailer of this movie
you won't get an impression needed, the whole thing is completely
different. Its not just about an extraordinary story itself, it unfolds
strong emotional portrait of the main character Aron Ralston, his life
or death experience brought on the big screen by very talented director
This is not a silly drama where you get to feel sorry, show compassion
to the characters, this one shows courage, soberness and strength of
the character. Though you can feel his fear and expression of it in his
eyes. Seeing how he flashbacks his life, analyzing and thinking what
brought him to this moment of his life is quite emotional and
beautifully scripted and filmed. Danny Boyle (director of Oscar-winning
''Slumdog Millionaire''). Directing is brilliant, some scenes filmed by
non-professional camera gives the film more realistic view. 127 hours
of unforgettable experience cut to 90 minutes - Top job! Filming
locations, sets are amazing. Scored ingeniously, soundtrack fits the
movie perfectly! This movie keeps you on pulse, you may think its
boring and depressing, but it makes you think of what would you do if
you were there, stuck between those rocks (or any other extreme
situation that life may bring on), will you have enough courage to cut
your own arm? Would you have the strength to carry on trying to
survive, not to give up the life? This is a kind of movie that makes
you think after watching, and that is a sign of a well-done work!

Melancholia (2011) Drama / Sci-Fi

''Melancholia'' - Lars von Trier's best work to date. The movie is
about the nature of depression and how 2 sisters go through it. Kirsten
Dunst (Justine) accepts her melancholia by the time a planet that was
hiding behind the sun threatens to collide the Earth, while other
sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg - Clair) is afraid to face the reality and
her own personal emotions.
If you have any little doubt whether you want to watch this movie or
not, you better don't, because this is not for everyone, and if you
still want to see this then prepare yourself for what you're going to
face. The movie is all about how Lars Von Trier sees the world, the
people and the dearness between them. It's beautiful, it's real, it's
disgusting, it's terrifying - it all depends on how you want to
perceive this film. The opening and the ending scenes are mesmerizing!
The music used in the film is taken from Wagner's ''Tristan and
Isolde'' opera which fits the movie perfectly. Cinematography - amazes.
Special effects, not for 3D, but are very realistic and breathtaking.
Kirsten Dunst gives us her best performance to date, forget the girl in
Spider-man, this is a new level for her. She finally proves us how good
she can be with the right movie choice. An Oscar nomination is on its
way...
I'm not a fan of Lars and his movies, but this one had me at the edge
of my seat to the last minute.
